The chase for the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class is on, with the Oregon Ducks firmly in the mix for elite offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell. Oregon was reported to be in the conversation earlier this week, but Cantwell's latest update indicates that a decision might be coming shortly.

"Might be closer to the end than I thought I was," Cantwell posted on X.

According to a report from On3, there's even more to it than that.

The elite offensive lineman apparently doesn't need anything else to make his decision.

“I have all the information I need,” Cantwell said, according to On3. “Don’t know how an OV would change that really.”

“Hasn’t been narrowed down any more and most likely no more trips before OVs,” Cantwell said. “I think this is something that’ll be figured out with me and my family and we already have all our info we need.”

Georgia and Oregon, who are also in a heated battle over the top quarterback in the country in Jared Curtis, seem to be going toe to toe in this one as well. The other teams that are still in the race are Miami, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio State, but Oregon, Georgia,

The pursuit of Cantwell has been a tough one, as will always be the case for the best recruits in the country, but Oregon is positioned well to make a run at him as a potential program-altering offensive lineman. The opportunity will be there for Cantwell to earn his opportunities early in his career if he were to commit to the Ducks, something that likely appeals to the blue-chip recruit with NFL aspirations.
