Ohio State has the No. 3 recruiting class in the country for 2026 and the last couple of months have been good to the Buckeyes on the trail.

The Buckeyes have 11 commitments and seven of those commitments have come in this calendar year.

Ohio State has already missed out on Ohio’s No. 1 ranked player CB Victor Singleton, who recently flipped his commitment from Illinois to Texas A&M. Now, the Buckeyes are trending toward losing one of the top cornerbacks in the country who is also a player right in the backyard of Ohio State.

No. 3 CB Elbert Hill predicted to land with the USC Trojans

Steve Wiltfong of On3 has entered a prediction for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans to land four-star CB Elbert Hill out of Akron, Ohio. Hill is ranked as the No. 3 cornerback in the country for 2026 and the No. 40 overall player.

Hill was at Oregon this past weekend, which is another program competing for the the Ohio cornerback. The Buckeyes and USC are right there with Oregon in having the best chance to land Hill. He will be back on USC’s campus this coming weekend, which bodes well for the Trojans.

“They show him they really want him there,” Hill’s father said. “Every time we go out there it’s incredible.” — On3

Ohio State has recruited well at cornerback by getting Devin Sanchez last year, then it was Bryce West and Aaron Scott Jr. in the class before that. Still, losing a top cornerback in the country from your own state to another Big Ten team would be a tough pill to swallow.

The 5-foot-10 cornerback has an official visit scheduled for USC on June 6, then to Oregon and Alabama in the following weekends.
