In terms of the most pursued 2026 cornerbacks in the class, you won’t find many at higher demand than Carrollton (Ga.) High School star Dorian Barney. The 6-1, 180-pound cover man was originally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Barney opted to reopen his recruitment back in November, and the demand continued at an even higher level.
It appears that a leader has emerged. On Monday, the On3 vice president of recruiting my Steve Wiltfong put in an expert prediction for Barney to end up with the Penn State Nittany Lions. It would be a monumental victory for head coach James Franklin and his staff.
Barney is considered to be a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. On the 247Sports recruiting ranking, Barney currently sits as the No. 150 overall player, No. 15 cornerback, and No. 20 player in the state of Georgia. The On3 Industry ranking has him pegged similarly, currently rated as the No. 197 overall player and No. 19 cornerback in the 2026 class.

Don’t look now but Penn State has begun to churn out some really good cornerbacks over the last couple of years. That includes Pittsburgh Steelers starter Joey Porter Jr., as well as current standout AJ Harris. The trajectory of that room can consider trending upward with the presence of Barney.
From a talent perspective, there is a lot to love about Barney. He possesses really nice length at 6-1 and 180 pounds. Barney also has really nice long speed and ball skills to develop. While Barney’s quickness isn’t amazing, he has other attributes to develop into a star on the college level.
