The Arizona Cardinals finished the 2024 season with an 8-9 record and third in the NFC West ahead of the San Francisco 49ers.

The team started out strong, being 6-4 entering their Week 11 bye week, but they were only able to muster two wins over the final seven games. They know the defense has to improve this offseason to ensure 2025 is a more successful season. In a new 2025 NFL mock draft, the Cardinals do just that by adding a national champion in the first round.

Cardinals land Michigan star DT Kenneth Grant in a new mock draft

"Kenneth Grant has fans within the top 10 picks, but he could also slide to the end of Round 1, so he's the owner of the most difficult range to predict. A physical beast at 6-foot-3 and 340 pounds, Grant wins with tremendous strength and more agility than you'd expect from a nose tackle. However, he's a little more Jordan Davis than Jalen Carter as an athlete, so it's possible he slides into the teens. Arizona desperately needs an injection of explosive youth along the interior line, and Grant fits the bill."

New A to Z Sports mock draft

Arizona allowed 126.4 rushing yards per game in 2024, the 10th-most in the NFL. They also allowed 149.7 yards in their final three games of the season, tied for the eighth-most in the league. So, adding proven run-stoppers to their defense is a major need this offseason, and Michigan's Kenneth Grant is one of, if not the best, in the entire class.

Grant gets overshadowed by Mason Graham and Will Johnson, being such big names on Michigan's defense, but he was just as important to Michigan's defense. He played a significant role in ensuring teams struggled from the opening kickoff to the final whistle to run the ball against the Wolverines. He helped lead the team to a national championship in 2023. Grant would start immediately at NT for the Cardinals and improve their run defense early. He also has more upside than people realize as a pass rusher and would be a great fit in Gannon's defense.
