The Ohio State Buckeyes currently have the No. 5 ranked class in the country for 2026 and continue to recruit in a dominant way under Ryan Day.

Day and his staff have recruited at a high level ever since he took over for Urban Meyer and there was no drop-off at all. It extends to the transfer portal as well, where the Buckeyes have been able to land stars like Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins, Will Howard, and even Max Klare this past cycle.

When it comes to the kind of recruits that Day wants to add in Columbus, he is looking at a certain group.

"The other part of it is when we recruit guys now, we want guys who want to be at Ohio State," Day stated earlier this week. "If we have to talk you into coming to Ohio State, if money is the first thing you’re looking for, then this isn’t the right place for you."

The Buckeyes didn’t have a single scholarship player transfer out this spring. That is often unheard of in today’s era of college football and how popular the transfer portal is. Ohio State lost four walk-ons to the portal and made two additions by the way of former North Carolina DE Beau Atkinson and former West Virginia OT Justin Terry.

Ohio State hasn’t reached this level of program by just recruiting anyone. Every year there are players that the Buckeyes have to pass up, even very talented ones. Like Day said, he wants players who want to be a Buckeye.
