Tyleik Williams Goes to San Francisco at No. 17
A big reason why San Francisco has endured a setback season is the lack of quality in the defensive trenches. Hemorraging talent to free agency over the years, replenishing this unit is ideal. Tyleik Williams is a great fit, even if No. 17 might be a bit early.
Williams is fast despite being dense at 325 pounds and has more pass-rushing chops than most expect. Well-balanced in the run and passing game, Williams is a high-floor prospect who could average a half-dozen sacks in his peak years.
Emeka Egbuka Lands in Houston at No. 23
A well-rounded target who has been underutilized over the last two years at Ohio State, Emeka Egbuka deserves late first-round love. Houston is a surprising landing spot because the Texans just added Stefon Diggs, but that was a short-term move. Diggs will hit free agency this spring after enduring a season-ending injury.
Egbuka and CJ Stroud had great chemistry, which keeps the Texans' offense humming. It sounds weird to say he'd be an insurance policy as a first-round pick, but moving Tank Dell into a reduced role probably helps his durability. The trio of Nico Collins, Egbuka, and Dell would be electric.
Chiefs go with Josh Simmons at No. 31
The Chiefs have a lot of money tied up in Jawaan Taylor, but the Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris battle on the other side of the line has not worked out. Moving Suamataia inside makes sense, and then Kansas City could aggressively look to add a pure tackle. Josh Simmons fits the bill.
While Simmons is recovering from a torn ACL, he is undoubtedly a tremendous value at this point. I think he goes in the teens. The rich get richer in this scenario.
