New 2025 NFL mock draft has the Commanders making sure they don't make the same mistake others have in the past and they give Jayden Daniels what he needs most
The Washington Commanders are fresh off an appearance in the NFC Championship, just a year removed from finishing with only four wins. They might not have been able to take down the Philadelphia Eagles, but their trajectory is, without a doubt, pointing in the right direction going forward. A big reason for that is the fantastic […]
The Washington Commanders are fresh off an appearance in the NFC Championship, just a year removed from finishing with only four wins.
They might not have been able to take down the Philadelphia Eagles, but their trajectory is, without a doubt, pointing in the right direction going forward. A big reason for that is the fantastic play from their 2024 first-round pick, Jayden Daniels, who is the current favorite to be named the offensive rookie of the year.
So it's only fitting that in a new A to Z Sports mock draft, the Commanders' selection protects the new face of their franchise.
Commanders land Texas offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. in a new mock draft

"Brandon Coleman struggled his rookie season at left tackle, and might be better suited moving inside to guard. Kelvin Banks can start right away there and help shore up protection for Jayden Daniels."
– New A to Z Sports mock draft
Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. is in discussion to be the first offensive lineman off the board come April; therefore, he has a chance to be a top-ten pick. In this mock, though, he slips all the way to pick 29 to the Commanders, which is part of the beauty of the NFL Draft, as so much of it is unpredictable.
If Banks is on the board when the Commanders come on the clock, they should undoubtedly run their card in with his name on it. In addition to being a talented player, he offers some solid position flexibility. He has the ability to play on either side of the line, which would help them make sure they put the best five linemen out on the field come week one.
This year, we saw the offensive rookie of the year from the year prior, CJ Stroud, struggle with some sophomore regression due to the putrid play from the Houston Texans offensive line. So the Commanders should take note of this and do everything in their power to not set their talented young QB for a similar fate. Selecting Banks would be a big step in the right direction to improve their line and enter 2025 with the goal of building off their incredible success this season.

One of the NFL’s best free agents recently made himself a top target for Commanders and it makes a lot of sense
The 2025 offseason is going to be a lot different than last year for the Washington Commanders, but one things that remains the same is the fact the defense still needs help at the cornerback position.Yes, even with the acquisition of Marshon Lattimore and the development of Mike Sainristil.
