Florida Gators Transfer Portal Tracker: Updates on players leaving Gainesville led by DJ Lagway
Tracking every Florida Gators player who plans to enter the transfer portal, with quarterback DJ Lagway leading the way.
After not seeing any roster movement with the Florida Gators over the course of the last few weeks, head coach Jon Sumrall‘s start in Gainesville is getting a little more complicated.
Now that his staff is getting fully assembled, players are starting to announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal. It was going to happen at some point, and the floodgates are now open.
Who are the players set to enter the transfer portal for the Gators? The big name is DJ Lagway, but he’s far from alone.
Florida Gators transfer portal tracker
QB DJ Lagway
Lagway entering the portal is a tough one for the Gators, but it could end up being a good thing. While Lagway has all the talent and pedigree to be great, he has yet to show it with any form of consistency in Gainesville, throwing for 28 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.
S Jordan Castell
Castell was one of the bright spots in a Gators’ secondary that was decimated with injuries. It’s a tough one for the Gators, but they did bring in two really good safeties in last year’s recruiting class in Lagonza Hayward and Drake Stubbs. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
WR Mike Peterson Jr.
A Gainesville native, Peterson walked on with the program after spending the spring at Arkansas State. He didn’t record a stat.
TE Amir Jackson
Jackson spent two season with the Gators, but didn’t get a lot of opportunity to play. He’s appeared in 16 games, catching just three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown this season.
Edit: Jackson agreed to a new deal with the Gators on December 27th, which will keep him out of the transfer portal.
RB KD Daniels
With injuries to the running back position this year, Daniels got an opportunity to carry the ball at the end of the year, with 28 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown.
WR Muizz Tounkara
Tounkara is one of the many Texas recruits that Billy Napier ended up getting to commit to the Gators, but he found himself in a very crowded room.
S Josiah Davis
Davis is the second safety to enter the transfer portal from the 2025 squad. With the two true freshman safeties having played last year, they are likely going to have a bigger role.
WR Aidan Mizell
Mizell was an underutilized weapon for the Gators this season. He was behind the likes of Tre Wilson, J. Michael Sturdivant, Vernell Brown III, and Dallas Wilson. He enters the portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
DB Teddy Foster
Foster is a depth player for the Gators, and he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
OL Marcus Mascoll
Mascoll was a depth player with the Gators and not someone who was relied upon regularly. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
WR Tank Hawkins
Hawkins is the third wide receiver to announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal this year.
LB Grayson “Pup” Howard
Howard was a rotational player for the Gators during his career. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
CB Jamroc Grimsley
Grimsley was a late addition in the 2024 class, but couldn’t quite take the next step in the secondary.
TE Hayden Hansen
Tight end wasn’t a major focus for the Gators over the last four years, but Hansen did a good job nonetheless. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
DT Michai Boireau
This one stinks for the Gators, as Boireau had become a really important player in the trenches for the Gators. He started all nine games for the Gators that he played and had two sacks, along with the game-winning interception against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
OL Enoch Wangoy
Wangoy joined the Gators ahead of the 2024 season and was nothing more than a depth player. Originally from England, he reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class to get more development. He never appeared in a game for the Gators, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
WR Naeshaun Montgomery
Montgomery was a standout in fall camp, showcasing his speed with multiple players missing time due to injuries. He will have all four years of eligibility remaining.
WR Tre Wilson
Wilson has been one of the best wide receivers for the Gators since he arrived on campus three seasons ago. The tough part for Wilson has been staying healthy, something that has been a real problem all three years. Wherever he goes, Wilson will be a difference maker when he’s on the field.
DB Sharif Denson
Denson started for the Gators last season and played well in the process. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
RB Chad Gasper Jr.
Gasper is not the first running back to enter the portal. He didn’t play in 2025 and will have all four seasons of eligibility remaining.
EDGE Jayden Woods
This is a brutal blow for the Gators. Woods was one of the few standouts on an injury plagued defense. As a true freshman, Woods had 2.5 sacks and an interception against the Ole Miss Rebels. Sumrall did flip tight end Amir Jackson from entering the transfer portal, so it’s not over yet, but with Friday being the opening of the portal, this isn’t good.
S Aaron Gates
Another safety is leaving the program, giving us more information that the young safeties Lagonza Hayward and Ben Hanks will have a bigger role next season. Gates started four games in 2025 after healing from a torn ACL in 2024, but a shoulder injury limited him in 2025. He will have two years of eligibility remaining, with the possibilty of a third upon potentially receiving a medical redshirt.
OL Noel Portnjagin
Portnjagin only played one game for the Gators across his two seasons. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
TE Cameron Kossman
Kossman was a member of the 2025 class and played just a single snap this season for the Gators. With Amir Jackson returning to school, he becomes the second tight end to enter the portal.
K Evan Noel
Noel was the top kicking recruit in the 2025 class and sat behind Trey Smack, who is off to the NFL. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
RB Treyaun Webb
Webb will have three years of eligibility remaining at this new school after missing most of the year with injuries.
RB Ja’Kobi Jackson
After missing eight games in 2025, Jackson is hoping to receive a medical redshirt to continue his playing career.
