Florida Gators are investing heavily into the football program, and the latest evidence backs that up
Billy Napier made it a focus to make serious investments in to the Gators’ infrastructure, and Jon Sumrall is taking advantage.
When you look at the Florida Gators football program, it’s in a much stronger position than it was before the hiring of Billy Napier.
Yes, the results weren’t there with a 22-23 record, but it’s in a much better spot overall. The facilities are significantly improved, as is the buy-in with NIL from the boosters. Head coach Jon Sumrall is moving things in the right direction, and his coaching hires are a big part of that.
Florida Gators coaching staff salaries have been revealed
One of the biggest aspects of Sumrall’s first season has been the impactful coaching hires he made. Already, offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been one of the best recruiters in the nation, landing three players in the top-10 at their position.
The coaching salaries for Sumrall’s staff have been revealed, with the details coming from Gators Online. The biggest piece of news: Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner’s salary is $2.1 million, with a total budget of $11.2 million in 2026.
The salaries are impressive, with both Trautwein and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman getting $1 million salaries in 2027. All but three assistants will be making at least $500k in each of the next two seasons. It continues to show a serious investment in the program, which is exactly what the Gators need to take that next step.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the Gators are spending a hefty amount of money on the assistant coaches. They are the lifeblood of your recruiting, and it’s an area the Gators needed to make a serious focus. Continuing to see a serious investment into the infrastructure of the program is a great thing.
