Latest David Gabriel Georges’ recruiting update could signal bad news for Ohio State football as he visits Tennessee
David Gabriel Georges is the top target for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and they’re in a battle with Tennessee to land him. The latest update on where things stand could be bad for the Buckeyes.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have 13 players committed in the class of 2027. Ohio State’s top remaining recruiting target is unquestionably Baylor School (TN) five-star RB David Gabriel Georges.
Gabriel Georges took a visit to Columbus last weekend for his Ohio State official, and this weekend he’s doing the same with the Tennessee Volunteers.
Ohio State and Tennessee are the top two schools in the running for the elite running back recruit. A decision is expected to come in late July, a few weeks after his officials wrap up.
The noise around Gabriel Georges was very positive in Ohio State’s favor last weekend coming out of his official visit. This weekend it’s Tennessee getting some love.
Is David Gabriel Georges fading away from Ohio State during his Tennessee visit?
It’s normal for schools to have a lot of momentum trending their way during and shortly after official visits happen. There’s normally a feeling of good coming out of these visits because the schools go all out to make sure of it. According to Rivals’ Chad Simmons, Tennessee is feeling great about where they’re at with Gabriel Georges.
“Ohio State has had confidence in this race, but Tennessee generated considerable buzz on Friday and into Saturday morning,” Simmons wrote. “Two separate sources connected to Tennessee and the recruitment indicated growing confidence that the Vols are in a strong position.”
Gabriel-Georges spent Friday building relationships with commits, players, and coaches while enjoying the atmosphere around Knoxville. Sources believe he fits in naturally with the group and continues to trend in a positive direction for Tennessee.”
Simmons stated he’s close to entering a prediction for Gabriel Georges, which would be the opposite of the current predictions that favor Ohio State. The nation’s No. 2 running back is scheduled to take visits to Ole Miss and Georgia following the Tennessee trip. There’s some belief out there that the Georgia trip won’t end up happening.
Ohio State made its pitch to Gabriel Georges last weekend and we heard all about the Buckeyes clearly being the school to beat. With him at Tennessee this weekend, the Vols are getting some of the same treatment.
With a decision not set to happen until July 22, both schools will continue to stay in communication with Gabriel Georges. As we know with recruiting in the year of 2026, you have to have your head on a swivel because things can change at anytime.
