LSU fans won’t have to wait much longer for answers after cryptic social media post that has everyone in Baton Rouge confused
LSU Tigers football fans should have some answers by the end of Wednesday.
For the last couple of days, LSU Tigers fans have been trying to figure out the meaning of a cryptic tweet from 2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.
The Tigers are trying to flip Royal, a New Orleans native, from the Texas Longhorns.
This past weekend, Royal tweeted “7/29”, which is his birthday.
There have been rumblings that Royal could make a flip decision on July 29.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong, however, said this week that the buzz from behind the scenes suggests Royal won’t be making an announcement on July 29.
“Well, there had been some buzz behind the scenes that there was something that could happen on his birthday,” said Wiltfong. “Now, people have kind of backed off that stance. So it’ll be exciting to see if he does announce something on Wednesday.”
The expectation, at this point, is that the battle for Royal will go all the way to the early signing period in December.
Royal, who is hoping to visit Baton Rouge for a game this fall, is reportedly “struggling” with the decision.
“We know the story here…he’s struggling, this kid is struggling because he loves Texas, he loves the opportunity,” said On3 Texas insider Justin Wells. “He also loves being home, loves being around his mom, his family, all his friends that he grew up with, so he’s got a tough decision.”
Royal is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation.
