Pete Golding reveals exactly what he said to Lane Kiffin when he found out Sam Leavitt was listed as doubtful for LSU vs Ole Miss
It’s going to be a wild one on Saturday night in Oxford between Ole Miss and LSU.
One of the biggest stories of the week in college football has been LSU Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt getting listed as doubtful on the first SEC injury report of the week.
When the news first broke that Leavitt was doubtful for the Ole Miss game, almost no one believed it was legitimate.
Those suspicions were seemingly confirmed on Thursday when Leavitt was upgraded to questionable on the SEC injury report.
This was clearly some gamesmanship from LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, and everyone knew it (including Nick Saban).
Maybe the funniest part of the whole deal, though, is that Kiffin apparently texted Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding before the report came out to tell him that Leavitt would be listed as doubtful. Golding, according to his interview on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, had a hilarious response.
“Yeah, buddy, I bet he is,” said an unconvinced Golding.
Golding added that he remembered Kiffin putting over 40 Ole Miss players on the first SEC injury report a couple of years ago.
It would be a shock if Leavitt is not on the field on Saturday night in Oxford when LSU takes on Ole Miss. Kiffin really isn’t fooling anyone, but this is part of what makes college football so much fun – there’s always been gamesmanship in college football rivalries.
I don’t see any harm in it, and I don’t think Golding does either.
