Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are looking to bounce back this weekend after a tough loss in Oxford to the Ole Miss Rebels last Saturday.

LSU will host the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night.

Texas A&M is also looking to bounce back this week. The Aggies suffered an upset loss at home last Saturday, losing 31-21 to Kentucky.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy predicts the final score of Texas A&M vs LSU

ESPN’s Greg McElroy made his picks for this weekend’s biggest games, and he has LSU winning a close one against Texas A&M.

“Can Texas A&M stay out of third-and-long?” said McElroy. “A&M converts third-and-short really well, but they have not done a very good job of converting third-and-long. And the LSU defense, the opponents are facing third-and-nine-plus on average. So the real battle is first and second down. If A&M is in third-and-short, they’re in a good spot. If not, they’re in trouble. Texas A&M has owned the series lately, but this LSU team has a better offense, and they’re sitting there in a home setting. And the Aggies, they have to prove they can stop the run. If they stop the run, they’re in a great spot for (Mike) Elko.

“LSU is short-handed, but the quarterback (Sam Leavitt) can create yards that the A&M defense hasn’t shown that it can consistently take away. Kiffin has never won a college game when his team scored fewer than 17 points, a number that LSU’s offense has not come close to just yet. I’m taking the LSU Tigers 27, the Texas A&M Aggies 20. I think both teams show up bruised, and the one with the quarterback (Leavitt) who can kind of outrun his mistakes will walk out of Death Valley with only one loss in the loss column.”

Texas A&M will be eager to bounce back after the loss to Kentucky. They’ll play better than they did last Saturday.

But the same is true for LSU. The Tigers are the better team, and the game is in Baton Rouge. Anything can happen, but it’s hard to see LSU losing this game.
