Florida Gators receive expert prediction to land an elite defensive player over SEC rival close to home
The Florida Gators’ defensive class is getting stronger by the week, and Jon Sumrall is about to land his third cornerback.
The Florida Gators have continued recruiting at a high level on both sides of the football, and it’s thanks to head coach Jon Sumrall.
Throughout his tenure with the Gators, he’s taken a massive step forward from the Billy Napier era, with the No. 5 overall class and the most blue-chip recruits in the nation, with 16. Napier had one class ranked 10th and didn’t have another one rank in the top 10.
Florida Gators 2027 Recruiting Class
- In Jon Sumrall’s first season, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class with 21 commitments.
- Among their commitments, three of their top ones are on the offensive line, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
- Sumrall is chasing multiple five-star recruits, including two at wide receiver.
Florida Gators receive expert prediction to land four-star CB Raheem Floyd
The Gators are surging in recruiting, and they are now projected to land four-star cornerback Raheem Floyd. Five recruiting analysts from Rivals, including Corey Bender and Blake Alderman from Gators Online, are all projecting Floyd to commit to Florida. The Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine has vaulted the Gators up to a 96.5% likelihood. He is set to commit July 1st.
Floyd committing would be huge for the Gators. He visited this past weekend and it made a serious impact on him. The East St. Louis product is only 112 miles away from Missouri’s campus, and that had an impact on him. Now that he’s been in Gainesville, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that he’s trending that way.
If he does commit, that would give the Gators three cornerback commits, joining four-star Aamaury Fountain and four-star Amare Nugent. That would take a nice step forward to elevate the defense moving forward.
