‘Knocked it out of the park’ — Florida Gators continue to make huge strides in flipping No. 1 overall recruit
Five-star DL Jalen Brewster has been a massive priority for the Florida Gators, and they continue to impact his decision.
The Florida Gators had a massive recruiting weekend on campus. It was the third of head coach Jon Sumrall’s four recruiting weekends. They are in a great spot with recruiting, as Sumrall has landed 21 commitments, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
He isn’t stopping, either, as the Gators just hosted two five-star recruits: Texas Longhorns commit, wide receiver Easton Royal, and Texas Tech Red Raiders commit, defensive lineman Jalen Brewster. Having them both on campus after getting involved late in the process was a massive win for the Gators.
Royal is set to visit Texas this weekend, and Brewster Texas Tech. That could end up turning the tide of his recruitment.
Florida Gators 2027 Recruiting Class
- In Jon Sumrall’s first season, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class with 21 commitments.
- Among their commitments, three of their top ones are on the offensive line, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
- Sumrall is chasing multiple five-star recruits, including two at wide receiver and the No. 1 overall recruit in Texas Tech commitment Jalen Brewster.
Florida Gators await Jalen Brewster decision
Being that Brewster is visiting the Red Raiders one weekend after visiting the Gators, it will give him a direct comparison between the two. Yes, he’s already visited Lubbock multiple times, but a refresh could be what he needs to make a decision.
Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman noted that the Gators “knocked it out of the park,” and their brand could help them in his recruitment.
The Gators hosted Brewster and his camp for the third time this offseason, and from all accounts, knocked it out of the park again on the visit. LSU has also come on very strongly with the blue-chipper, who could be apt to “explore some bigger brands in the SEC,” one source noted.

The note about “exploring bigger brands in the SEC” is noteworthy when it comes to Brewster. He’s been pretty locked in with Texas Tech, but their current standing in college football is getting hurt by the day.
The Brendan Sorsby situation could be a huge factor for the Gators, and the turning point with his recruitment. We will likely know more after the weekend, but don’t be surprised if this continues throughout the season.
