Florida vs. Texas Final Score Predictions: Experts weigh in on a desperate Gators team heading to Austin
After suffering back-to-back embarrassing losses, can the Florida Gators get back in the win column against a reeling Texas Longhorns team?
The Florida Gators are in a rough spot at 4-2 as they head to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon.
After two blowout losses to the Missouri Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks on homecoming, Jon Sumrall‘s team is in a tough spot. They were at one point being talked about as potentially being the 2019 LSU Tigers from on the precipice of collapsing. It’s his first year at the helm, and the talent level still isn’t quite there yet.
For the Longhorns, they have beaten Ohio State, but are coming off a tough loss in the Red River Rivalry to the Oklahoma Sooners. They are in an interesting spot right now, and a win is a must for both teams. Who will get the win? Our experts made their predictions.
Texas 38, Florida 24
Can we trust the Florida Gators? Honestly, no, and that includes the four-game winning streak to start the season with a massive blowout win over Ole Miss. The defense is struggling to generate pressure and the coverage on the back end has been incredibly inconsistent. Even with Texas having lost Red River last week, their success so far this season and offensive talent gets the Longhorns the win.
Can the Gators get the win? Absolutely! Will they? I doubt it.

Both teams come in off dismal losses to unranked teams. The Longhorns, who haven’t looked dominant this year by any means, gagged away a game they should have won against Oklahoma but for a pick six and a punt block touchdown. Florida got mollywhopped by South Carolina one game after getting throttled by Missouri. As such, it’s tough to tell up from down with these two teams.
But my mind immediately goes to two things. First, the Horns’ front is still nasty, and Florida suddenly can’t find any space for Jadan Baugh and the ground game. On the other side, Florida’s defense has become a sieve, and I don’t trust they’ve found a way to fix it yet. Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo are too much for the Longhorns, who win comfortably in Austin.

Arch Manning has faced plenty of criticism for his inconsistency this season, but this is the type of matchup that could help him get back on track. Florida’s pass defense has been a major weakness, and I expect Manning to take full advantage by delivering his best performance of the 2026 season. The Longhorns have the talent to exploit the Gators’ struggling secondary, and Manning should find plenty of opportunities to push the ball downfield and put points on the board. After an uneven stretch offensively, this could be the breakthrough performance Texas needs.
Florida should have some success early, particularly with running back Jadan Baugh leading the way. Baugh has been one of the Gators’ most productive playmakers, and I expect him to help Florida move the ball and keep the game competitive in the first half. However, Texas has the defensive talent to make adjustments and limit Florida’s offensive production as the game progresses. The Gators have struggled to maintain consistency in recent weeks, and that issue will catch up with them again in Austin. Texas pulls away in the second half, with Manning and the offense doing enough to secure a much-needed win.

The Gators have fallen off a bit in the last few weeks after starting red hot. Texas is coming off a disappointing loss to Oklahoma. So, you know, Steve Sarkisian is going to be looking to get his team rolling again. Last week probably showed Texas what they should be doing more often on offense. They need to run more quick-game stuff with Arch Manning, because the long, developing routes downfield aren’t helping the offense. Their offensive line isn’t great, so they need to start running more quick-game plays. I think this past game showed some of that, and Texas still gets the win despite the offense struggling against a decent Florida defense.

As high as I was on the Florida Gators after the Ole Miss win, that hype has come crashing down after games against Missouri and South Carolina. The offense, led by Jadan Baugh, simply hasn’t looked the same, and now the availability of starting QB Aaron Philo is in question. As for Texas, the Longhorns are coming off an embarrassing loss of their own after losing Red River to a bad OU team, and they aim to get back on track.
Florida’s defense has been bad, to say the least, and this game may serve as a great game for Arch Manning nd Texas. Give me the Longhorns here.

Texas and Florida both need wins this week, and the pressure is even higher for Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning. Two losses for Texas at this point in the season would make things very uncomfortable in Austin, and perhaps it would mark the beginning of the end for some important names there. I don’t think that’s going to happen, though. I think Texas bounces back this week behind a strong defensive performance and looks the part against Florida. If the Longhorns can limit Jaden Baugh, they’ll defend home field without much issue. I think Florida hangs around, but the Longhorns put it away in the fourth quarter.

Final Prediction for Florida vs. Texas
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that none of our experts have picked the Gators, as they have lost our trust after the disastrous performances of the last two weeks. A win here would do wonders to get them back in our good graces.
