A big NFL trade involving a former LSU Tigers standout went down on Monday afternoon.
According to multiple reports, the New England Patriots are trading former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans for safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh round pick.
Boutte spent the first three seasons of his career with the Patriots, and he made some big plays in training camp.
The Texans, however, were in need of a wide receiver after Jayden Higgins went down with a season-ending injury.
This is a good development for Boutte. The Patriots have a crowded depth chart at wide receiver with AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs at the top. Landing in Houston will provide Boutte with a much better opportunity to make an impact this fall as he heads into a contract season.
Boutte has totaled 78 receptions for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns during his first three seasons in the NFL.
