Ohio State football is in a better spot than many think to land another elite five-star playmaker in the class of 2027
Ohio State is in the mix along with Alabama and Indiana for a major five-star prospect in the class of 2027. The latest intel reveals the Buckeyes are a major player in the recruitment, and landing the elite wideout is very possible.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a great week on the recruiting trail and it could be a look at what’s to come in July for them.
Ohio State has picked up commitments from 2027 five-star DL Marcus Fakatou and 2028 five-star WR Jett Harrison this week so far. The Buckeyes are in the mix to land commitments from players like four-star DL Karlos May and five-star RB David Gabriel Georges this month as well.
There’s still a chance for the Buckeyes to land another five-star wideout in the class of 2027, and the latest update sounds promising.
Positive WR Monshun Sales update has come about for Ohio State
Ohio State is one of the final schools in the mix for five-star Lawrence North (IN) WR Monshun Sales, who is also considering Indiana and Alabama. The home state Hoosiers and Alabama have gotten the most buzz in this recruitment, but Rivals’ Greg Smith’s latest update sounds good for the Buckeyes.
“I’m told that Ohio State is more of a factor in this race than previously thought,” Smith wrote. “The track record of wide receiver development speaks for itself and coach Ryan Day has that program in the title hunt every year.”
Of course, the Buckeyes already have five-star WR Jamier Brown committed firmly in the class of 2027. Ohio State also has five-star WR Jett Harrison committed in 2028 and elite WR recruit Austin Miller committed for 2029. The Buckeyes have shown no signs of slowing down with their development of the position with Brian Hartline gone and Cortez Hankton has kept the ball rolling this summer.
Sales is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound wideout who would have a chance to play right away potentially at Ohio State. The Indiana recruit is ranked as the No. 2 wideout and No. 8 overall player in the class of 2027, per 247 Sports Composite.
Landing Sales along with May and Gabriel Georges would put the Buckeyes in contention for the No. 1 class in 2027. Ohio State still has work to do ahead of a likely mid-July commitment for Sales, but they’re in a promising spot.
