2028 quarterback speaks out about getting an offer from Ben Arbuckle and the Oklahoma Sooners
The Oklahoma Sooners need a quarterback for their 2028 recruiting class, as they already have one for the 2027 class.
The Oklahoma Sooners have their 2027 quarterback in Jameson Roberts. They also just landed Noah Smith in the class, a non-rated in-state kid who they feel like could be a diamond in the rough. But, even with all that, they still don’t have their quarterback for the 2028 class.
Then again, they don’t have anyone committed in the 2028 cycle. However, the Sooners have been heavily pursuing several guys in the class. They now have five quarterback offers out and just sent another to Trey Wright, days after Graham Simpson’s visit. Wright got his offer, and he’s considering it a blessing given how close OU is.
“OU is one of the top programs in the country, so getting that offer is such a blessing,” Wright told Sooners On SI. “They’ve produced a lot of great players and quarterbacks, so it’s really exciting to be recognized by them. They’ve all been really genuine and easy to talk to. You can tell they care about their players on and off the field… It’s close to home, so I’m hoping to get up there soon and spend more time around the staff and players. Excited to get to a real game and feel the energy of the team, fans, and players.”
Trey Wright is a three-star who has the talent to be rated higher
The Sooners don’t really care about star ratings. They look at the tape and watch the player in person. They think Wright has what it takes to be an SEC QB. And, maybe he does. He’s the No. 32 quarterback in the country and the No. 48 player in Texas. The talent is there.
“I’d say my arm talent, being able to extend plays under pressure, and making plays outside the pocket are some of my biggest strengths,” Wright said.
The Sooners have a plethora of options at quarterback in the 2028 class.
