Oklahoma Sooners fans were just sent into an immediate scare by one of the team’s elite 2027 commits
The Oklahoma Sooners have one of the best recruiting classes in the 2027 cycle, and a big reason is Keldrid Ben, the four-star running back.
The Oklahoma Sooners have a top-three class in the 2027 recruiting cycle. But that was almost affected a bit on Friday. Or, at least everyone thought it was. Keldrid Ben, the No. 5 running back in the 2027 recruiting class, made an announcement on Friday.
Now, Ben has been committed to the Sooners since very early in the cycle. He was the seventh commit in the cycle of what is now 27 total commitments. Ben committed to the Sooners on December 1, 2025. A graphic featuring Ben was released on Thursday, revealing that there would be a celebration and an announcement regarding his recruitment.
The graphic had OU on there, as well as the other two teams he’s been looking into, like Florida and Oregon. This scared fans, mainly because Ben still kept taking visits after committing. He was getting the full experience. So fans initially felt that Ben was flipping his commitment.
On Friday afternoon, he went live and killed all of that scare away. Ben was just simply celebrating that he was committed to OU, something he never got to do when he initially committed.
Sooners also have running back Jakoby Dixon committed on the 2027 recruiting class
It’s important that teams, almost every team, have at least two running backs in every single recruiting class. It doesn’t really matter how many running backs these teams already have on their current roster. This is a position group that gets injured and takes a beating more often than any other.
Three-star RB Jakoby Dixon is a top 500 player in the country and the No. 44 player at his position in his class. Dixon is also a top 75 player in the state of Texas. This is a huge get for the Sooners, even if Ben is the name donating the headlines right now.
