Sooners’ recent 2028 quarterback offer kept it all the way real regarding Oklahoma and the position he’s currently in
The Oklahoma Sooners have sent three offers out to 2028 quarterbacks, and Trey Tagliaferri, out of Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic, knows what’s up.
The Oklahoma Sooners have been relentless in their pursuit of the 2028 quarterback who best fits them. Just this week, they began sending out offers to QBs in the class. Three offers have been sent out so far.
We’ve already talked a bit about Brady Quinn and the elite arm talent he seems to have. However, there are two other guys who are pretty good, too. Their most recent offer, Trey Tagliaferri from New Jersey, can be the real deal with some development. Of course, he’s still very young, but even so, he understands just how big a deal it is to get an offer from Oklahoma as a quarterback.
“Honestly, Coach Kuz doesn’t have to do that much to pitch Oklahoma,” Tagliaferri said. “I mean, it’s Oklahoma football.”
Tagliaferri is 6’2, 190, and has some really great traits. He has a really good deep ball and wonderful pocket presence. The four-star QB by Rivals’ rankings is considered to be a top 10 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class. It’s still early, but he could even make a jump higher than that.
Sooners have their QBs, but they’re looking for one for 2028
Right now, the Sooners have Bowe Bentley in waiting. Then, in the 2027 recruiting class, they have Jameson Roberts, the Mobile, Alabama QB. Now, they’re trying to find their 2028 QB, and Tagliaferri recognizes what it means to be a QB at OU.
“But, nothing but great things,” Tagliaferri said to Collin Kennedy of 247 Sports. “Obviously, I know about the quarterback they have there now. John Mateer is a great QB. But, yeah, Coach Kuz was just describing how they produce great quarterbacks, they put together a great program, and they’re always competing at the highest levels.”
Trey Tagliaferri’s rankings
- Rivals: 205th Nationally, 14th QB, 9th in NJ
- 247 Sports: — Nationally, 11th, 6th
- ESPN: No rankings yet
Tagliaferri can be a very good football player. The Sooners would like to tap into some of that potential. Right now, he has offers from Rutgers, Penn State, Alabama, and Ole Miss. The Sooners will have competition.
