The Oklahoma Sooners found a diamond at their Elite Camp. They sent an offer that same day, nd now they are being predicted to land him. Sam Spiegelman, Rivals’ National Recruiting Analyst, predicted that OU would land 2028 WR Carson LaCombe.

If the Sooners were to land the San Antonio, Texas WR, LaCombe would be the first and only commitment in their 2028 recruiting class. Obviously, they haven’t had any issues getting players in their 2027 recruiting class. But, they had a 2028 player committed in RB Micah Rhodes. After DeMarco Murray left for the Chiefs, Rhodes decommitted. So, what would OU be getting in LaCombe?

Oklahoma Sooners would be getting a playmaker in 2028 WR Carson LaCombe

According to nearly every beat writer and reporter who attended the camp, LaCombe was unguardable and one of the very best players there. And, he had to be, considering he left town with an offer.

LaCombe is 6’2, 185, and has the skill set every team needs. He is a good route runner, but most importantly, he’s just good at getting open. And when he does get open and catch the ball, he makes plays. The Sooners love players like that, especially in this Ben Arbuckle offense.

When you first turn on LaCombe’s tape, he shows you right away that he isn’t limited to just one playstyle. He’s a multi-receiver who can do a few different things. His first play is a bubble screen that he tapes 60 yards downfield. Texas A&M was the leader for LaCombe, which makes sense since they are relatively close to him. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

He’s the No. 18 receiver in the class, the No. 11 player in Texas, and the No. 129 player in the country. OU would be getting a great player if they did land LaCombe. Spiegelman has the prediction at a 60% confidence.
